Regular fees* are paid monthly by postdated cheque, dated the first day of each month. Currently our cost is $74 per month for a weekly 30-minute lesson. The studio fee of $25 is payable September 1st, 2012.
Our bank charges $10 for bouncey cheques. Please avoid having to cover that cost by politely remembering that your cheque will be cashed early each month.
*Individual (non-weekly) lessons, arranged with your teacher, will be charged at a rate of $22.50 per half hour.
Our family is taking a holiday. Can we arrange for make-up lessons?
If you need to miss a lesson for bona-fide reasons we will work with you to find another time to have your lesson. Please tell your teacher as soon as possible when your family is planning to be away. If you miss a make-up lesson it often cannot be refunded nor accommodated.
We understand that this can happen. To offer you the best teaching possible, a lot of unseen prep time goes into the lessons. Though our rates are comparatively low, we do value our time and yours. If you realize you may not make it to your lesson and hope to reschedule, please call ahead as soon as possible. If a lesson is missed without notifying your teacher, there will be no make-up lesson (sorry ). Of course, if there was some sort of emergency, we will do our best to work something out.
How do I help my child to keep practicing? It is no surprize that kids will practice the fun songs more than their scales. We have incentives that help track a student’s practice time. At a beginner level, 30 minutes a day would be ideal, but there is no need to push your child initially. A few minutes a day four or five times a week is a good start. If he or she is feeling overwhelmed they can use your enthusiasm to bring some hope to their studying. Download some fun and interesting music they can listen to on your ipod or laptop to help them see that you enjoy it too. Introduce them to some of the website links we suggest and ask them to play their favorite song for you. Be very careful not to over-correct. Any practice is a successful practice and sometimes the best progress is made by simply having someone to play for. Look for more ways to become involved in your child’s progress with their music lessons online or speak with one of our teachers for more motivational ideas.
