Getting Started Sep 2014

Welcome Back! We will resume lessons the first week of September 2014.

As you are aware there are minor changes to our lesson schedule due to alterations in our day job hours. At this point we are quite confident about the following times, but keep in mind that they may have to change slightly.

Wednesdays 5 - 8 pm (six spaces)
Thursdays 5 - 6 pm (two spaces)

We will be sure to confirm your time with you before the first week of September by phone call or email. If you wish to request a time please do so by email: burgartstudios@gmail.com. We cannot promise you will be able to have the time you request but it should help if you let us know your preferences. Of course, we will do our best to be considerate of your schedules as well.

Thank you for your understanding. We will see you soon!

Summer Recital 2014

I love the fact that I learned 2 different instruments as a child and how to read music... something I want my children to be able to do! I'm in that 70%. I didn't learn how to play as a child but I'm giving it a try now.

GOOD FOR YOU!! You're listening to your inner voice that says, make it happen!  Come and hear the progress your children / grandchildren have been making with their musical talents. Invitations are being handed out to the students. A map of the location is on the back for your convenience. Please remember to dress up for the recital performances and to arrive early.

Winter Group Lesson

Please mark your calendars for Saturday, December 14, 2013 Group Music Lesson at 10 a.m.

Please Note: Due to conflicting schedules we have moved this event to one week later than indicated on the calendar hand-outs. Our sincere apologies if it should cause any difficulties whatsoever.

for the kids:
This time is set aside for your child to participate with other music students and share his or her knowledge and skills. This is not intended to be a recital but is meant to help the students feel more familiar playing their music in a group setting with other people listening to them. It also gives them a sense of courtesy while they come to understand that others expect you to listen to them too.

The students will play a getting-to-know-you game then enjoy a small treat before we take to the studio.

for the parents:
You may pick up the kids between 11:15 - 11:30 depending on cash register line ups. This will give you some time to squeeze in Christmas Shopping, grab some Groceries, meet a friend for Coffee or Cocoa, or Fill up your Gas Tank at Costco. Remember, The Dollar Store, Shopper's Drug Mart and Long & McQuade are just around the corner.

Well, that's what I would probably do. What you do is up to you!

Remember, Saturday the 14th from 10 a.m. until 11:15.

Please be sure to send the kids' music and dictation books along.

Happy Shopping!

Things To Do Between Lessons

So, you are finished practicing your scales & exercises, your pieces, and have completed all the written work you were assigned. What do you do for the next 15 minutes of practice time? ;)

Once you have carefully practiced the above over and over, here are a few links that will keep your fingers hopping or your minds musically occupied until the next lesson.

Very early students will love this Fisher Price On-line Game.
Hey, even the teacher has fun playing on this one!

Shoo Fly - A fun little song to get the juices flowing!

This link is also a great blog to navigate for music teachers.

The music will play four 2-beat counts then start to sing.

Sing just once through the whole song.

There will be lots of extra music after you have finished singing.

Smile Big, Breath Deeply, Stand Tall, and Have Fun!! I sure did!
